Prayer for Madrona

she holds the world together
in darkness and in light
in death and in life
layer after layer
branch after branch
she releases
to reach
from within
towards the sun
all the while
rooting deeper
into the dark caverns of the earth
interlacing her fingers
around stone giants
strength is her song
beauty is her way
may we hold her
in our hearts
as we pray
